A 64-year-old woman caused a long blockage on Interstate 45 in Texas, United States, after intentionally colliding with a truck and sitting in the middle of the lane holding a revolver.

The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon (26th), mobilizing a large police operation. The woman, who suffers from mental disorders, placed a garden chair on the asphalt and kept the gun close to her face and head, making it difficult for the officers to act.

For about five hours, both lanes of the highway were closed while the police tried to negotiate with the woman. A crisis management specialist was called, and the arrival of her daughter helped calm her down. According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the presence of her daughter was crucial for the woman to give up any potential extreme action.

The standoff ended without injuries. The woman surrendered and was taken to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation. The truck driver involved in the accident also emerged unharmed. The sheriff considered the outcome positive and emphasized that, although the woman may face some charges, the most important thing was to ensure her safety and avoid the use of force.
